Equestrian events in England in 2026
The equestrian events calendar for 2026 promises another outstanding year, with major events taking place across England.
We expect the events, shows and competitions to attract riders, owners and spectators from around the world. From elite international competitions to grassroots championships, the season showcases the very best of British equestrian sport, particularly across eventing, show jumping and dressage. Here’s WB Equiline’s summary of what the new year has in store.
The year begins to gather momentum in May with the world-famous Badminton Horse Trials, held from Wednesday 6 May to Sunday 10 May at the Badminton Estate in Gloucestershire. This prestigious five-day competition is one of the highlights of the global eventing calendar, featuring dressage, cross-country and show jumping at the highest CCI-L 5* level. Running alongside it, the British Eventing Grassroots Championships provide an exciting platform for amateur riders competing at BE90 and BE100 levels.
Later in May, from Thursday 14 May to Sunday 17 May, the Royal Windsor Horse Show takes place in the private grounds of Windsor Castle. This iconic event offers a unique setting for international competition, with world-class sport across show jumping, driving, and endurance disciplines, combined with royal tradition and pageantry.
June brings the Bramham International Horse Trials, staged from Thursday 11 June to Sunday 14 June in West Yorkshire. As a key fixture at CCI-L 4* and CCI-S 4* level, Bramham is known for its challenging cross-country and plays an important role in preparing riders for top-level competition. The summer then continues with the Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead in West Sussex, running from Tuesday 21 July to Sunday 26 July. A cornerstone of the British show jumping season, this event draws leading riders and large crowds each year.
September is another busy month, beginning with the Burghley Horse Trials from Thursday 3 September to Sunday 6 September at Burghley Park, Lincolnshire. Famous for its demanding cross-country course, Burghley remains one of the most respected events in the sport. Later in the month, the Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials takes place from Thursday 17 September to Sunday 20 September in Oxfordshire.
Alongside these major fixtures, Hickstead also hosts the All England September Tour over two weeks in early and mid-September, featuring national show jumping championships with free admission. Throughout the year, British Showjumping and British Dressage run extensive national and regional programmes. For the most accurate and up-to-date details, riders and spectators are encouraged to consult official governing body websites.
